Where you sleep shapes a trip to Morocco more than almost anywhere else. A palace hotel in Marrakech, a restored riad in the Fes medina, a kasbah in a palm grove and a private camp in the dunes are each an experience in themselves. These are the luxury hotels and riads we admire most, chosen for their setting, service and sense of place – grouped by region so you can build your route around them.
At a glance. Marrakech: palace hotels and garden resorts · Fes: riads inside the medina · South: kasbahs and desert camps · Coast: Atlantic resorts and boutique hideaways · Book 3–6 months ahead for spring and autumn.
Marrakech
1. La Mamounia

Open since 1929 and set in historic gardens just inside the medina walls, La Mamounia is Morocco’s most famous hotel. In 2026 Travel + Leisure ranked it No. 12 among the World’s 100 Best Hotels and the No. 1 city hotel in North Africa and the Middle East. Expect Art Deco and Moroccan interiors, a vast pool among olive and orange trees, and some of the city’s best restaurants – all within walking distance of the Koutoubia and Jemaa el-Fna.
2. Royal Mansour Marrakech
Built by Moroccan artisans as a “medina within a medina”, Royal Mansour is a collection of private riads, each with its own courtyard, plunge pool and rooftop terrace, connected by underground passages so service is almost invisible. Its gardens cover 13 acres, and it also appears in Travel + Leisure’s 2026 list of the world’s best hotels.
3. Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech
Set in a 50-acre olive grove and garden a short drive from the medina, the Mandarin Oriental is a resort of villas and suites with private pools and views of the Atlas. It suits travellers who want space, calm and a superb spa after days in the city.
4. Four Seasons Resort Marrakech

Close to the Menara Gardens, the Four Seasons is a relaxed resort with large pools, beautiful grounds and one of the best kids’ clubs in Morocco – our favourite choice for families travelling with children.
5. Caravan by Habitas, Agafay
About 45 minutes from Marrakech, the stony Agafay desert offers vast views of the Atlas. Caravan by Habitas is a nomad-inspired camp of luxury tents and lodges, with dinners under the stars and cultural experiences – a lovely way to taste the desert if you do not have time to reach the Sahara.
Fes
6. Riad Fes – Relais & Châteaux

A member of Relais & Châteaux, Riad Fes spreads across five restored houses in the upper medina, blending Andalusian and Moroccan design around a large courtyard pool. It is the ideal base for exploring Fes el-Bali on foot with a guide.
7. Palais Amani
A boutique riad of 21 rooms in a former palace, Palais Amani is known for its peaceful Andalusian garden, its rooftop views over the medina and its cooking classes – perfect for travellers who want to feel part of the city.
8. Hotel Sahrai

The contemporary sister of Riad Fes sits on a hill just outside the medina, with a striking infinity pool and a large spa. Choose it if you prefer modern design and space, with the medina a few minutes away by car.
The South and the Sahara
9. Dar Ahlam, Skoura

Hidden in the palm grove of Skoura near Ouarzazate, Dar Ahlam is a restored kasbah where every meal is served in a different place – a garden, a terrace, a salon by the fire. It is one of the most romantic places to stay in Morocco and a superb base for the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.
10. A private luxury camp at Erg Chebbi

In the Sahara, the most memorable luxury is space and silence. The best camps in the Erg Chebbi dunes offer spacious tents with real beds and en-suite bathrooms, fine dinners and fire-side music – with nothing but sand between you and the stars. Compare them in our guide to the best luxury desert camps in Merzouga.
Casablanca and the Atlantic Coast
11. Royal Mansour Casablanca and Four Seasons Casablanca

If your journey begins in Casablanca, two addresses stand out. Royal Mansour Casablanca is an Art Deco landmark from the 1950s reborn with lavish rooms, a two-floor spa and fine dining; the Four Seasons Casablanca, on the ocean front, is ideal for a restful first night after a long flight.
12. La Sultana Oualidia and Fairmont Taghazout Bay

On the Atlantic, La Sultana Oualidia is an intimate hideaway above the Oualidia lagoon, famous for its oysters and birdlife. Further south near Agadir, Fairmont Taghazout Bay is a beach resort with surfing, sandboarding and a large spa – a perfect way to end a busy tour.
Luxury, Premium or VIP: how we match hotels to your trip
On our private tours you choose a package rather than a fixed hotel list. Our Luxury package (from $400 per person per day) uses hand-picked 4–5★ riads and hotels; Premium (from $550) uses the finest 5★ riads and palace hotels in each city; and VIP All-Inclusive (from $900) adds all meals, airport fast-track and every activity. If you have a favourite hotel in mind, we simply build your itinerary around it.
- Book early: the best riads have only a handful of rooms and fill up 3–6 months ahead for spring and autumn.
- Mix your stays: a palace hotel in Marrakech, a riad in the Fes medina and a desert camp make a perfect balance.
- Think about access: riads inside the medina are reached on foot; we arrange porters for your luggage.
- Stay longer: two or three nights in each place lets you enjoy the hotel as well as the city.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most luxurious hotel in Morocco?
La Mamounia and Royal Mansour in Marrakech are the most celebrated, both featured in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2026. In Fes, Riad Fes (Relais & Châteaux) is the classic luxury choice.
Is a riad or a hotel better in Morocco?
A riad gives you an intimate stay inside the medina, close to the souks; a resort hotel offers more space, larger pools and a spa. Many guests combine both on the same trip.
How much does a luxury hotel in Morocco cost?
Prices vary widely by season and room. Fine riads usually cost less than palace hotels such as La Mamounia or Royal Mansour, which are among the most expensive in Africa. We quote your accommodation clearly within your package price.
Can you book hotels as part of a private tour?
Yes. All accommodation is included in our private tours, and we can reserve specific hotels on request, subject to availability.
