Morocco is one of the most rewarding luxury destinations in the world, and one of the closest to Europe. In a single trip you can sleep in a palace riad in Marrakech, walk a medieval medina with a scholar-guide, cross the High Atlas and spend a night in a private camp in the Sahara. This guide explains how luxury travel in Morocco works – where to go, where to stay, what it costs and how to plan it – from our team of local specialists.
At a glance. Ideal length: 8–14 days · Best seasons: March–May and September–November · Typical luxury budget: from $400 per person per day, all-inclusive VIP from $900 · Main gateways: Marrakech and Casablanca · Travel style: private driver-guide, local city guides, 4–5★ riads and desert camps.
What luxury travel in Morocco really means

In Morocco, luxury is less about marble and more about privacy, time and access. It means your own air-conditioned vehicle and a professional driver-guide for the whole trip, licensed local guides in each city, rooms in the most beautiful riads, kasbahs and desert camps, and a team that adjusts every day to your pace. It also means doors that open: a master craftsman’s workshop in Fes, a family lunch in an Atlas village, a private table in the dunes.
The best destinations for a luxury trip

- The Atlas and the kasbah road – Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorges.

Where to stay: palaces, riads, kasbahs and camps

The joy of luxury travel in Morocco is the variety of places to stay. In Marrakech, choose between legendary palace hotels such as La Mamounia and Royal Mansour or an intimate riad near the souks. In Fes, stay in a restored riad inside the medina. In the south, kasbah hotels sit among palm groves, and in the Sahara the best camps offer real beds, en-suite bathrooms and fine dinners under the stars. Getting around: why a private driver-guide matters

Distances in Morocco are long and road signs are often only in Arabic and French, so the most comfortable way to travel is with your own vehicle and an experienced driver-guide. He meets you at the airport, stays with you throughout, knows the best stops for photos and lunch, and handles every detail. In each city, a licensed local guide takes over for the walking tour of the medina. Domestic flights exist, but they rarely save time compared with a well-planned road trip.
How much does a luxury trip to Morocco cost?
Costs depend on the season, the number of travellers and the level of accommodation. On our private tours, prices are per person per day for 1–3 travellers:
- Luxury – from $400: hand-picked 4–5★ riads and hotels, private camp in the dunes, breakfast daily plus dinners in the desert and the Dades Valley.
- Premium – from $550: the finest 5★ riads, palace hotels and boutique stays in every city, with the same meals and camp as Luxury.
- VIP All-Inclusive – from $900: all meals, airport fast-track, every ticket and activity, including a balloon flight, a cooking class and a one-hour quad or buggy ride.
Groups of 4–5 travellers save 20% on Luxury and Premium (10% on VIP), and groups of 6 or more save 30% (20% on VIP). All packages include your private vehicle and driver-guide, local guides and entrance tickets. See all our Morocco luxury tour packages.
When to go

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons for a luxury tour, with warm days everywhere and pleasant nights in the desert. Winter is mild and sunny in the cities but cold at night in the desert and mountains; summer is very hot inland but lovely on the coast. Practical tips for luxury travellers
- Book early: the best riads and camps have few rooms; reserve 3–6 months ahead for spring and autumn.
- Pace yourself: two nights in each place is far more relaxing than a new hotel every night.
- Dress code: smart-casual light clothing that covers shoulders and knees in the medinas; resort wear is fine in hotels.
- Money: cards are accepted in hotels and restaurants; carry dirhams for souks, tips and small cafés.
- Tipping: appreciated but never obligatory; we share simple guidelines before you travel.
